England showcased furious batting prowess against South Africa by putting on a record-smashing 304 in the first innings of the 2nd T20I. In reply, South Africa got out on 158, giving England a big win at Manchester. The star batter of the night was Phil Salt, who smashed an unbeaten 141 off 60 balls to take England to the new record total.

South Africa decided to field first after winning the toss. This decision proved wrong for them completely, as England batters came out with all guns blazing. The furious opening pair of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler disrupted South African plans from ball one. They smashed the experienced pair of Rabada and Jansen all over the park, making sure that no one gets settled in the game.

Phil Salt became the star of the show by scoring an unbeaten 141 off 60 balls. His career best innings consisted of 8 sixes and 15 fours, giving England a great head start to march towards the historic total. Alongside Phil Salt, Jos Buttler also made a resounding impact as an experienced England opener. He made an explosive 83 off just 30 balls, reminding everyone why he is still England’s most dangerous batter.

The new England captain, Harry Brook, equally showcased his stunning batting persona. He cracked 41 off just 21 balls. This late order firepower allowed England to surpass 300 at Manchester, making them just the third team in history to achieve this feat in a T20I game.

In reply, South Africa also started well. However, things started to go downhill when visitors lost two back-to-back wickets in the fourth over. After that, the South African innings never looked promising, as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

This broke the momentum of the chase, forcing South Africa to make silly mistakes throughout the second innings. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 158, giving England a commanding and unforgettable win by a margin of 146 runs at Manchester.
