"I Think I'll Be Ready to Bowl," Says Chase as WI Eye 2nd Test Victory

The West Indies believe momentum is firmly on their side ahead of the second Test against Pakistan, with captain Roston Chase insisting the hosts are in the right frame of mind to complete the series on home soil. The WI is very confident for 2nd Test outlook following a string of encouraging results that have lifted the team's performances during the current World Test Championship cycle.

West Indies have won two of their last three Tests, including last week's 90-run victory over Pakistan, after beginning the home season with an innings win over Sri Lanka. The improved run has strengthened belief within the squad, even though a place in the WTC final is no longer within reach.

Chase Targets Stronger Home Record

Looking ahead to the series finale at Queen's Park Oval, Chase is confident for 2nd Test victory and said the team wants to build a reputation for making the Caribbean a difficult destination for visiting sides.

"After having the year last year [West Indies won one and lost eight], we sat down with the plan and said that this is where we want to be. And as I said, we're exactly where we want to be. We want to level up," Chase told reporters.

"We're very blessed and very happy for the results that we've been having at home so far. But I want to make home our fortress, where we make it very difficult for teams to come to the Caribbean and beat us."

Spin and Fitness Could Shape the Contest

Pitch conditions in Port of Spain are expected to offer more assistance to spin than the opening Test, giving both teams selection decisions to consider. West Indies could again rely on left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, while Chase is hopeful of contributing with the ball despite carrying a finger injury.

"It's getting better," Chase said. "Hopefully, I think I'll be ready to bowl by Sunday."

Pakistan arrive under pressure after extending their losing streak in away Tests, but the visitors have spin options available if conditions favour slower bowlers during the decisive match.
