Marnus Labuschagne Speaks Out as Kingsmen Face Third Straight Loss in PSL 11

Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne looked a bit disappointed after losing third straight game in the PSL 2026. He acknowledged that the team made some tactical errors, but also expressed confidence in making a strong comeback in the upcoming games.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Marnus Labuschagne said that he and the team were confident to defend the target, but Multan Sultans disrupted all their plans by delivering a powerful batting performance.

"I think whenever you get 225 on the board, you're pretty confident it's defendable. Obviously, it wasn't tonight," said Hyderabad Kingsmen captain, Marnus Labuschagne.

"They batted beautifully. I thought the openers got off to a perfect start, which is what you need when chasing that sort of score," added Marnus Labuschagne.

He then reflected on the chances his team didn’t take in the field, saying they played a key role in losing the match. Apart from them, the Hyderabad Kingsmen captain also emphasized the positives from the game, especially the performances of various batters in the first innings.

"We probably just didn't take all our chances, and it cost us. But we set out to come back in this tournament and show intent. I thought Maaz and Saim were amazing at the top; they just set the tone," said Marnus Labuschagne.

"Then Sharjeel, in his first game back, got 50 off 25 in the middle order, and Usman came out and set the tone as well. I'm really proud of that innings. Even Mohammad Ali, I think his [second over] was awesome. There are a lot of great things there, even if we didn't get the result." added Marnus Labuschagne.

Marnus then acknowledged the tactical mistake he made by not allowing Saim or Maaz to bowl in the 15th over. He said such decisions are often taken spontaneously, so he will try to come up with better calls next time.

"That was our last game here, so we go to Karachi for the rest of the tournament now. I think there's probably a little bit on me regarding that 15th over; I could have looked at bowling Maaz or Saim then, but those are things you look back on in retrospect," said Marnus Labuschagne.

"We just have to keep trusting our skills and working on executing to get better." added Marnus Labuschagne.
