Naseem Shah Breaks Silence After PCB Fine Over Controversial Tweet

Naseem Shah has finally issued a public apology after a controversial tweet from one of his social media accounts angered the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). As a result, the pacer has been fined PKR 2 crore, and his social media management team has been blacklisted by the board.

Naseem recently posted a new tweet on his social media account, saying the previous statement didn’t reflect his views as it was posted abruptly by his social media team. However, the pacer takes "full responsibility" for the incident that created the unwanted controversy.

"A recent post from my account was made by my management team and does not reflect my views. I take full responsibility for my platform and have implemented the necessary changes to ensure this does not happen again.” said Naseem Shah in a social media post.

"I sincerely apologize to everyone affected by this misuse of my platform." added Naseem Shah.

The apology of Naseem Shah came following the statement of the PCB in which it said that the pacer has violated various clauses of the central contract and social media guidelines.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the outcomes of disciplinary committee proceedings pertaining to breaches of various clauses of Naseem Shah's Central Contract and the PCB Social Media Guidelines," said the PCB statement.

"The PCB had issued a show cause notice dated 27th March 2026 outlining the violations and sought a response [from] Naseem. A personal hearing was then held by a three member Disciplinary Committee on 30th March 2025 after Naseem Shah's reply had been received and reviewed." added the statement.

As a result of the controversial tweet, the pacer was fined Rs 20 million, even after letting go of his social media adviser, who has also been banned by the cricket board from working with other national players under its control.

"Whilst noting the unconditional apology tendered, Naseem is found to have breached various clauses of his Central Contract and a fine of PKR 2 crores has been imposed," said the PCB statement.

"It was noted that Naseem Shah's social media adviser has already been terminated by Naseem and shall be blacklisted by the PCB from associating with any player falling under the PCB's jurisdiction. The PCB remains committed to upholding professional standards, contractual obligations and the integrity of the game." added the statement.
