Pakistan Register Dominant Win Over South Korea in Second Hockey Test

Pakistan hockey captain Abu Bakar Mahmood scored two goals to help the green shirts defeat South Korea 3-1 in the second Hockey Test at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

South Korea made a bright start and took the lead in the 30th minute when Son Dein scored a well-worked field goal.

However, Pakistan responded quickly, with Abdul Rehman scoring the equaliser through a field goal just three minutes later.

Mahmood then gave Pakistan the lead in the 52nd minute by converting a penalty corner. He added his second goal in the final minute with another successful penalty corner to seal a comfortable 3-1 win for the hosts.

Pakistan now lead the four-match Test series 2-0 after winning the opening two games against South Korea. Both teams will meet again in the third Test at the same ground on August 4.

The series is helping Pakistan get ready for the FIH Hockey World Cup, where they will make their first appearance in the tournament after many years. It follows a disappointing FIH Pro League campaign in which Pakistan could not win any of their 16 matches.

The green shirts will open their World Cup journey against England on August 14. They will then face Wales on August 17 before ending the group stage with a high-profile clash against traditional rivals India on August 19.
