IND vs AUS 1st Test Day 1: Bowlers From Both Sides Wreak Havoc

IND vs AUS 1st Test Day 1: Bowlers From Both Sides Wreak Havoc

The Ind vs Aus 1st test day 1 of Border-Gavaskar Trophy was a spectacle to say the least. On day 1, 77 overs were bowled, 17 wickets lost, and only 217 runs scored.

India won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opened the innings, but Mitchell Starc didn’t let Jaiswal settle in at all. He dismissed him on 0, opening the account for Australia very early on in the game.

What followed was a debacle, something you don’t see happening to the Indian team this frequently.

Only 4 batsmen from the enormous Indian batting lineup could get past the 10-run mark, rest of them returned to the pavilion with a score in single figures.

According to captain Jasprit Bumrah’s pre-match conference, the mighty Virat Kohli was looking ominous before the beginning of the match, but even he failed to deliver a notable performance.

At just 150 runs, the entire Indian team crumbled in front of the hazardous combo of Starc and Hazlewood.

Such a wonderful bowling display warranted an easy chase and lead for Australia, but who knew the tables would turn so soon.

In the second half of Ind vs Aus 1st test day 1, the hosts came on to bat, hoping to end the day on a high, but Indian skipper Bumrah had a different plan.

Bumrah accompanied by Siraj crushed Australia’s highly competent batting lineup. One by one, the kangaroos started returning to the dugout with scores so low that the viewers couldn’t even see some of them come and go.

At the end of India vs Australia 1st test day 1 of Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the hosts had reached a shocking total of 67-7, trailing by 83 runs.

India and Australia are the top two teams in terms of ICC test team rankings, so what was the reason behind their subpar performance? Lack of luck or skills?
